How to make this easy recipe in the crockpot

Pour all the ingredients into a small slow cooker and set the heat on high for 1 hour. Whisk until the sauce comes together, then use the keep warm setting. If you plan on adding ground beef or chorizo, make sure it is fully cooked first.

    👩🏾‍🍳Substitutions

Jalapeno- Use canned green chilies instead of fresh jalapenos.

White American cheese- use Colby jack or yellow American cheese

Evaporated milk- use heavy cream instead

    📝Variations

For a spicier kick, you can leave the jalapeno seeds in or add additional diced jalapenos or cayenne pepper.

If you prefer a milder flavor, you can substitute Monterey Jack cheese or colby jack for pepper jack cheese.

Feel free to experiment with other types of chile powders, such as ancho or chipotle, to suit your taste preferences.

Fiesta Queso: Add a colorful twist to your queso dip by adding diced bell peppers, corn, and black beans. Sauté the vegetables before adding them to the melted cheese for extra flavor.

Chorizo Queso: Cook and crumble chorizo before adding it to the queso dip. The spicy and savory sausage will take this dip to the next level.

Green Chile Queso: Substitute the jalapeno with roasted and diced green chiles for a mild and tangy flavor. Use canned green chiles to make it super simple.

    🍳Equipment

To make this delicious white cheese sauce, you'll need the following kitchen equipment:

    • Medium saucepan
    • Whisk
    • Cutting board
    • Knife

    ❄️Storage

You can store any leftover queso in an airtight container after it has cooled to room temperature. The queso will be good for 3-4 days. You can use any leftover queso on these nacho fries.

These ingredients don't stand up well to freezing.

    FAQ's

Can I make this queso dip ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can make the dip ahead of time and reheat it when you're ready to serve. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

Q: Can I freeze the white queso dip?

While it's technically possible to freeze the dip, the texture may change when thawed. It's best to enjoy it fresh for the creamiest results.

What can I serve with this creamy white queso dip?

Tortilla chips: The classic and most popular option. Opt for both regular and flavored chips for a variety of tastes. If you have time to make homemade tortilla chips, here's a great recipe! Be sure to add homemade pico de gallo, salsa verde, sour cream and guacamole for a well rounded snack spread.

Fresh Vegetables: Serve this simple dip alongside a platter of fresh veggies like carrot sticks, celery, bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes for a healthier alternative.

Homemade Soft Pretzels: Warm, soft pretzels dipped in creamy queso are a match made in snack heaven.

Mexican-Inspired Beverages: Complement the flavors of your dip with a mangonada or an agua fresca. You can also serve it with a tall glass of iced tea.

    👩🏾‍🍳Top tip

Make sure you stir the mixture frequently while it's cooking so the cheese doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan.
